Tony Buzan - Extract from The Mind Map book

When I explained that I wanted to learn how to operate my brain, not operate on it, I was politely informed that there were no such books.

I left the library in astonishment.

As I walked away from the library that day, I realised that the ‘problem’ of not being able to find the books I needed was actually a blessing in disguise. For if such books were not available, then I had happened upon virgin territory of the most staggering importance.

Through concerted research in every area of knowledge I felt would help shed light on the subject, I gradually developed the concept of the Mind Map.

My extraordinary experience and immediate personal success led me to realize that Mind Maps could be developed as a powerful tool for personal transformation and as a way for each of us to make the most of our natural abilities. I had a vision and an ambition that Mind Maps would become a catalyst that would influence a generation of individuals, business thinkers and educators. Over 30 years on, it is an immense source of joy and satisfaction to me that people around the world in all walks of life and at all levels now use Mind Maps as away of maximizing their individual potential and bringing about personal change.

Mind Maps enable us to plan every aspect of our lives with confidence. They are a tool for communication, problem-solving, creative dreaming, teaching, revising, managing time and recalling memories. They can also be artistic creations in their own right. This course will introduce you to the technique of Mind Mapping, its applications, and the basic principles behind it.
