Area: Healthy Eating/Enterprise Audience: Pupils aged 10 to 14 The Right Bite is an interactive computer game which helps pupils learn about the importance of healthy eating. Players open a healthy eating restaurant in Duncastle – a town famous for its high number of fast food outlets and unhealthy citizens. Pupils apply their knowledge of diet and nutrition to make The Right Bite a successful business and change the eating habits of the people of Duncastle. The Right Bite enables young people to: • consider important messages relating to health education; • learn about healthy food choices, balanced diet and nutrition; • make decisions about prices, staff and menu options; • develop skills in enterprise education and citizenship. Pupils enjoy creating healthy eating options and then interacting with the animated characters who frequent their restaurant. Although health education is the main focus of The Right Bite, there is also a strong enterprise element within the game. The program also contains teaching and learning activities and is supported by a dedicated web site
