What Inspires Me?
I live by the mantra ‘I would rather die of hard work then boredom’ and am constantly engaged, challenged and rewarded through my work as a teacher.  There is nothing more rewarding then building positive relationships with students and seeing them flourish.  I am also a firm believer in aiming high and setting goals, something which has many benefits for the students I work with, and has also assisted my own personal development.
Having read ‘Tricks of the Mind’ by Derren Brown during University I developed a passion for learning to learn.  It was the memory section that really provoked my imagination and from there I have gone on to read books by authors including Tony Buzan, Dominic O’Brien and Edward De Bono.  These helped motivate me to work within education and have helped refine and shape my own educational philosophy.  It was this interest which led me to Inspire and the fantastic work they do in terms of providing tools to move education forwards into the 21st century.  An era where I hope students will know how to learn as well as what to learn!
I also try to let little things Inspire me on a day to day basis. Whether it be the people I come into contact with, things I hear through the media or information I am reading.  By searching for constant improvement, I feel it makes every day worth living!

What Makes Me?
I am a keen sportsman and have an interest in football, tennis, mountain biking and running.  I love having a focus outside of work to both clear my head and allow me to relax.  Personal heroes from within sport include Muhammed Ali, Alan Shearer and Roger Banister.
I try to live by one my favourite quotes; ‘It is better to regret something you did then something you didn’t do’.  Through constantly taking this attitude both at work and at home, it has allowed me to move forwards.  I think functioning in this way helps to create your own opportunities in life.
To finish, I am passionate about giving people the tools and the opportunity to indulge in lifelong learning.  I love being involved in jobs where I can do this and hope to make a difference to as many peoples lives as possible.
