What Inspires me?
I am highly motivated and passionate about helping young people to achieve their potential in life. My long teaching career started in 1975 in a mining town in Derbyshire and I have never doubted that I chose the right profession. Many of the students in the schools I have taught in have had extremely difficult personal lives and deserved every bit of help and encouragement they could get.
What Makes me me?
I was adopted as a baby into a very loving and supportive family. I had no excuse not to succeed academically and in other aspects of my life. Maybe it is the fact that I feel I have been so very lucky that I want to help others who have not been so fortunate. My education has meant that I have been able to progress in my career and gain promotion to senior level, which has given me great job satisfaction and made me confident and happy as a person. I have 4 children and three grandchildren and have the same aspirations for them as I have for all young people, that everyone should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Working in education means that I can assist in that goal.
